What Is Corona Virus (COVID 19)

Overview

Coronavirus also known as COVID-19 is known to cause respiratory infections that range from common cold to Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) coronavirus. The virus is usually circulated among animals. There have been instances where it is also found to affect humans. COVID-19 initially originated from Wuhan city in China has now spread across to over 100 other countries that also include the United States.

Patient will have an elevated body temperature that is higher than the normal body temperature

Patient will have a constant irritation in the throat or airway that leads to constant coughing

Please note that the symptoms may begin to appear anytime between 2 to 14 days after exposure.
Preventive Measures

Although there is no vaccine at present to stop the virus, the disease can be prevented by practicing the following habits.

Avoiding contact with sick people.
Minimize touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid sharing of any personal items such as drinking glasses, cups, eating utensils, dishes, towels, or bedding with other people or pets in your home.
Frequently washing your hands with soap water.
In the event of developing a cough, it is highly advisable that you use a medical face mask.
Seek immediate medical help if you have a bout of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing.
